So, I started with Ocean WP because, well, why not, and the base site gave me all sorts of weird stuff (we’ll get back to that).
I need to do an overhaul on my main site (which currently uses the Apex theme, which I quite like, but since I installed WooCommerce I have Too Many Header menus in weird orders and I want a static front page). So I figured I’d try out the more popular themes over here to see what I like.
Main ones I kept seeing were Genesis and Astra. Genesis doesn’t seem to really be a theme, it’s a framework for other themes, and kinda good for developers. Which I can be, but don’t really have the time to learn right now. So I’m figuring maybe Astra for now, and move to Genesis as and when I want to do more complicated stuff.
So I installed Astra on here. And I found a free template that looked pretty similar to what I wanted. Fine. Things have changed a bit (where did my cool starry background go? I can’t even find it). But not that much. There’s still the weird template headers that OceanWP put in there and I haven’t yet figured out how to get rid of them. If you’re reading this at the time, ignore all that stuff. I am not Joelia.
Takeaway – changing themes is not quite as simple as you thought it might be. Hey ho. Nothing ever is.
Also, main blog update. 315 followers on IG. 82 on FB. 40 email subscribers (mostly cleared out of spam). About to launch my second product. Really need to start playing the game and upping the ante on this stuff. Except school is about to start back up and I won’t have the time! We’ll see.
